Secondary

In Secondary, we offer the Middle Years Programme (MYP), a five year programme for pupils between the ages of 11 and 15. As an IB continuum school this offers a seamless transition between the PYP programme and prepares the students for the Diploma Programme.

The MYP empowers students to inquire into a wide range of issues and ideas of significance locally, nationally and globally. The result is young people who are creative, critical and reflective thinkers.

In the final year of the MYP, all our subjects are evaluated externally, either by the IB through eAssessment or by Cambridge Assessment International through the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). The IGCSE courses are two year courses that form the curricular basis for the MYP 4 and MYP 5 years.

The MYP is then followed by the Diploma Programme (DP), a two year programme for pupils usually between the ages 16 and 18. The DP curriculum consists of six subject groups and the DP core: theory of knowledge (TOK), creativity, activity, service (CAS) and the extended essay (EE). Through the DP core, students reflect on the nature of knowledge, complete independent research and undertake projects that involve independent action and service to the community.

The secondary school curriculum is also designed to meet the local requirements set by the Ministério da Educação (MEC) for all schools in Brazil. At the end of DP 2, successful pupils will have BOTH the IB Diploma and the Certificado de Conclusão do Ensino Médio.
