Careers Department

St. Francis offers a dedicated resource within the school that provides support and guidance to students regarding their future education, career choices, and personal development. The primary purpose of our Careers Department is to help students make informed decisions about their academic and vocational paths beyond high school.

Guidance

Our Careers Advisor works with students individually or in group settings to help them explore their interests, strengths, and goals. We provide guidance on potential career paths, college majors, and vocational training programs.

We assist students with the college application process. This includes helping them research colleges, prepare application materials, and explore financial aid and scholarship opportunities.

Careers Day

Careers Day at St. Francis College is designed to expose students to a variety of potential career paths and provide them with information about different professions and industries. We always invite many helping parents and count on their kind support every year to speak to our students about their careers and businesses. We typically try to invite an array of different parent-professionals to ensure we cover the most desired topic of interest for our students.

These lectures help students explore their interests, gain insight into the world of work, and make more informed decisions about their future careers.

At St. Francis College we offer a work shadowing program to our DP 1 students. It's an educational initiative that provides Secondary students with the opportunity to observe and learn about a specific career or industry by spending a week "shadowing" a professional in that field and in his/her  business establishment. This programme typically takes place at the end of the January and students have the opportunity to be hands-on the career they want to further explore.

We work in partnership with Guide-U and many industries and professionals.

University Fairs

University fairs in schools play a crucial role in helping pupils make informed decisions about their higher education choices, explore various options, and take the first steps toward their academic and career goals. They provide a valuable opportunity for pupils to gather information, ask questions, and connect with representatives from different institutions. For this reason our Career Dept. has been holding more fairs and visits of Universities on our campus.

International and Brazilian University Fairs - they are organised directly between our Careers Advisor and the many Universities and are held at St Francis College. The International fair typically takes place at the beginning of the Academic Year and the Brazilian fair during the second term. Both Fairs host an array of universities and the event is open to students, parents, families and other schools.

Mini University Fairs - are smaller fairs organised by University Consulting firms, and also held at our school. These fairs typically take place during lunch hours for our SEC students. They happen all throughout the year.

Individual University Visits - These visits are ongoing throughout the year and are held during SEC lunch hours. These visits are also a great opportunity for our students to learn more about higher education institutes. The University Visit Schedule is published in the Bulletin and updates are done on an ongoing basis. Be sure to check the schedule out frequently!
